Welcome to the Emerson Park School Sport Partnership Website
This website highlights the vast array of activities taking place across the Emerson Park School Sport Partnership which is part of the national School Sport Partnership network.
In September 2004 the Emerson Park School Sport Partnership was formed. It consisted of 29 Havering schools (5 Secondary & 24 Primary, Junior & Infant Schools). Following a Partnership wide audit into all aspects related to Physical Education in school, which included Curriculum time, range of sports offered, out of school hours opportunities, we established our baseline.
The data revealed that only 45% of pupils aged between 5 - 16 were undertaking 2 hours of PE & School Sport in a typical week. Since 2004 every school in our Partnership has completed an annual PE, School Sport & Club Links survey. Our most recent figures published in October 2008 reveal that 83% of pupils aged 5 - 16 are now receiving 2 hours or more per week of PE and School Sport.
In January 2008 the new PE & Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP) was launched for 5 - 19 year olds. This national strategy hopes to build upon the successes of the previous strategy (PESSCL) by investing £755 million over the next three years to develop an infra structure that can help deliver 2 hours PE for all young people aged 5 - 16 and a further three hours beyond the curriculum and for 16 - 19 year olds to have three hours of sport outside of the curriculum, this is referred to collectively as the 'Five Hour Offer'.
