The Governments' long term vision is to increase the amount and quality of PE and Sport in schools and colleges in the run up to 2012 as part of the Olympic legacy plan.

The aim is for every child to have access to 5 hours of high quality PE and Sport per week (3 hours for 16-19 year olds).

Our aim is to work with our partner schools and colleges to create a new ‘5 hour offer' for all 5-16 year olds by ensuring they have access to at least 2 hours high quality curriculum PE and School Sport each week and create opportunities for them to participate in a further 3 hours each week of sporting activity, through school, voluntary and community providers.

This website celebrates the work of our partner schools and the diverse range of opportunities availiable to students aged 5 - 19 as we count down to London 2012.

pesyp_logo.jpg

Building on the success of the government's strategy for Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL), the remit of the strategy has been expanded to create the new PE & Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP).  PESSYP expresses the government's commitment to improve the quantity and quality of physical education and sport undertaken by young people aged 5 - 19.  This will be achieved through schools, further education colleges, or clubs and other providers in the community and is referred to collectively as the ‘Five Hour Offer'.
