With just under two years to go until London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games, one aspect of Lord Coe's legacy vision is to inspire the next generation of young people to take up sport.
Over the past 10 years Youth Sport Trust has worked tirelessly to develop 450 School Sport Partnerships (SSP's), to include every school in England.
The Emerson Park School Sport Partnership has been in place since 2004 and currently consists of 43 educational institutions across Havering. It has created over the past six years many long lasting sporting opportunities for yound people and will continue to do so far beyond 2012.
Our daily challenge is to create for every child the opportunity to have access to 5 hours of high quality PE and Sport per week (3 hours for 16-19 year olds).
To do this we are working with all partner institutions to create the '5 hour offer' by ensuring they have access to at least 2 hours high quality curriculum Physical Education and School Sport each week and create opportunities for them to participate in a further 3 hours each week of sporting activity, through school clubs, voluntary clubs and other community leisure providers.
This website celebrates the work of all our partner schools and colleges and the diverse range of opportunities available to students aged 5 - 19 available in Havering as we count down to London 2012 and beyond.

NATIONAL STRATEGY UPDATE

Building on the success of the government's strategy for Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL), the remit of the strategy has been expanded to create the new PE & Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP). PESSYP expresses the government's commitment to improve the quantity and quality of physical education and sport undertaken by young people aged 5 - 19. This will be achieved through schools, further education colleges, or clubs and other providers in the community and is referred to collectively as the ‘Five Hour Offer'.
